Hibernation Series by Øystein Aspelund

Coming out from the Winter season, the change of climate and temperature get me all fuzzed up about the nature. We don’t take much time looking at what’s around us, the daily reality that we tend to forget with our busy lives. Well, Øystein Aspelund does understand this concept and his “hibernation” series totally reflects that.

The series HIBERNATION is a series which investigates subconsciousness, and the sometimes grey boundary between truth and fiction. It is a personal project that is utilizing man and his relation to the landscape as an investigative tool. Based upon real places and events, this series is intending to catch the moments when our daily reality and our subconscious world sometimes strike each other. It is a stream of frozen moments, where the story between each frame is as important as the frame itself.

About Øystein Aspelund

Øystein is based from Trondheim, Norway and he’s a photographer is quite interested in visual expressions. Coming from an architecture background, he enjoys exploring his images through themes and ideas. Like many of us, Øystein just let his camera takes him, to a different world where people don’t usually see.

UI Inspiration: Product One Pager

Following from last week’s Stores Inspiration, I thought it would be great to share more in-depth UI design by putting together this collection of  Product One Pager designs. Based on the analytics, it’s really interesting to see how brands showcase their products knowing that the user is giving them very little time on their sites. I truly believe in data-driven designs where any improvements can be made and supported by data to create a better experience.

Web Design: Stores Inspiration

Independent Brands, I feel there so many out there nowadays. Free from the outside and happily working without a hassle at making their own trademark which is a very good thing. The old days when only big brands were ruling are gone. Part of the brand process, one of the many crucial things to associate with to your product is your site. If your customers/target audience doesn’t know what your product is all about after a few seconds then all your efforts are worthless at this point.

Get your hands on with your users because it is more than a “Menu + Header Image + CTA” formula. It’s about transcending your image/brand to the right customers.

Traveling Cars Adventures by Kim Leuenberger

I found Kim’s work on Instagram and was instantly hooked to her Traveling Cars Adventures series. As she says at her website, the series shows her little toy cars in dramatic situations. And I gotta say it is hard for you not to fall in love with her toy cars and embark on their journey.

Kim is currently lives in London where she is studying Photography at the University of the Arts London. Her pictures are delicate and inspiring. You can totally put together a whole background story for her little cars. I’m a total fan of her pics and I had to share them here with you. Take a look!

My name is Kim Leuenberger, I was born in 1992 in the North West of Switzerland in a region called Jura. As the regions is quite small and lost in between two chains of mountains, I started to travel a lot around Europe, hungry to discover more of the world and be a real explorer. I always liked photography and started it at a very young age, however I only owned my own dslr for my nineteenth Birthday. It has been love at first sight with a little nikon d3100. Almost 2 years I’ve upgraded to a Canon 5d mark iii and learned all I know about photography by myself, by reading magazines or websites. I now use a range of different cameras to capture the car series, with an Olympus EM5 mkII and sometimes a LeicaQ.

I love being creative with my photography as well as documenting the life around me. I love making objects and tell a story through my pictures, music is my biggest inspiration, I named many of my pictures after songs of my favorite artists (Mumford and Sons, Ben Howard, etc..)

And don’t forget, we are all explorers of this beautiful world!
